Project Information

The Nonprofit Empowerment Center is one of four centers of service delivery within The Partnership for Families & Children. The NEC is devoted to helping organizations better serve their constituents and meet their full potential by facilitating value-driven, inclusive processes to strengthen organizational capacity.

Build Capacity Colorado (BCC) is a project of the NEC. Funded by the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) of the US Department of Health and Human Services, the BCC project aims to equip Colorado nonprofits with capacity building tools and knowledge in order to help increase organizational sustainability. NEC is currently working with nine nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado to strengthen capacity in organizational development, leadership development, program development and community outreach. All nine BCC organizations are engaged in providing services to one or more of the following groups:

  • low-income individuals seeking to gain greater access to state and federal benefits and tax credits
  • low-income individuals seeking to secure and retain employment, earn higher wages and obtain better quality jobs
  • low-income individuals and families in need of financial education, credit counseling and access to individual development accounts and other asset building strategies
  •  the homeless
  • elders in need
  •  families in transition from welfare to work
  • at-risk youth
