Leading Denver Organization Dedicated to Children and Family Issues
Changes Name to Reflect Larger Vision

DENVER, November 13, 2008 – The Partnership for Families & Children is the new name of one of Colorado’s top organizations dedicated to children and family issues, announced Ken Seeley, President and CEO. Formerly known as Colorado Foundation for Families and Children, the organization decided that its new name better reflects its focus, builds a stronger brand and will lead to new opportunities to work collaboratively to achieve common goals.

“Our new name and brand reflects our continued commitment to serve as an effective and powerful partner for social change working with funders, government agencies and other nonprofits at the forefront of programs and initiatives that benefit children, families and communities,” said Seeley. “Over the years, we have evolved to maximize our capacity-building services and cross-sector partnerships to enhance the impact of the organizations we serve.”

The Partnership for Families & Children combines best practice training, technical assistance, research, evaluation, cultural competency and advocacy to leverage limited resources and investments in critical social issues. The Partnership enhances the capacity of those delivering vital direct services and helps them achieve their goals and missions with increased effectiveness, efficiency and accountability.

The Partnership’s core initiative areas include health, education/schools, and youth development issues. “Today, in Colorado alone, nearly one in three students do not graduate from high school, nearly 24 out of every 1,000 births are to teens and some 180,000 children under 19 lack health insurance,” said Larry Curry, Board Chair. “We find these conditions unacceptable and believe our passion and dedication, combined with our ability to connect resources, enhances our partners’ abilities to affect change and achieve greater social impact. Together, we are applying research and best practices to craft, effective focused solutions to these community challenges.”

The Partnership also staffs and oversees the work of its affiliate organizations, the National Center for School Engagement (NCSE) and the Colorado AfterSchool Network (CAN). NCSE offers research, training, technical assistance and evaluation services to encourage and support schools’ use of best practices leading to student attendance, attachment and achievement. CAN works with Colorado communities to connect and build systems, supports and resources for quality out-of-school learning opportunities.

The new name and brand is reflected in the organization’s logo and tagline, “Connecting Resources to Achieve Impact.” According to Seeley, “Moving forward, The Partnership for Families & Children is committed to continuing the work it has been doing for almost 20 years – uniting and engaging communities, civic leaders, educators, nonprofits and advocates across multiple sectors to achieve real change for vulnerable children and their families.”

The Partnership for Families & Children recently re-located to 450 Lincoln St., #100, Denver, CO 80203. For more information, please visit the organization’s website at www.pffac.org or call 303-837-8466.
